Musical Concert for Healing Post- Earthquake Survivors

Shtrii Shakti and other organizations jointly organized a Musical Concert for Healing on 19 July, 2015. The idea behind this peaceful concert was to send out the message of harmony and hope for Nepal and to radiate the resonance of goodwill, peace, prosperity and construction following the Earthquake that devastated the country. The Musical Concert focused on ushering peace, harmony and spiritual energy. It was rendered by talented musicians, singers and instrumentalists from the country led by the premier artist Nhyoo Bajracharya and his team. Also, on this occasion “Status of Women in Nepal Revisited 2015” was launched. The three volume book on the status of women unveils trends on Women’s Status in Nepal over the past 3 decades encompassing socio-economic to inclusive development.

South Asian Women’s Network (SWAN) Workshop

The three day conference on ‘Democracy and Inclusive Good Governance for Gender Equality and Sustainable Development in South Asia’ was organized in Kathmandu from 13th to 15th May, 2014 by South Asian Women’s Network (SWAN), New Delhi in collaboration with Shtrii Shakti (S2), and SEARCH- Nepal (SN). The inaugural ceremony was held by Honorable Minister of Education Chitra Lekha Yadav as the Chief Guest on 13th May, 2014 at Hotel Radisson. The conference brought together practitioners, academicians, professionals, researchers and social activists engaged in the field of gender equality and development from across South Asia including Nepal, Bhutan, India, Bangladesh, Myanmar and Sri Lanka. The conference took place over two days divided into five sessions, where a total of 14 prominent personalities presented papers on issues pertinent to women in South Asia. Each session chaired by eminent figures concluded with floor discussions, which saw active participation from the audience and panel alike. The last session of the conference was a valedictory session which was chaired by Hon. Minister of Finance Dr. Ram Sharan Mahat.

Shtrii Shakti’s Two Decades Celebration

To mark S2’s 20 years of successful engagement with youth and women, a celebration was organized on 10th of June, 2012 (26 Ashad 2069) at Kathmandu. S2 felicitated its special and experienced staff members who have been a part of this long journey. Also, on this special day two publications of S2 were launched “A Decade-long Journey of Joyous Partnership” and “Sexuality – an empowerment perspective”. A short cultural event was also conducted on this special occasion which included motivational songs, dance and issue based drama performed by youth.

One Billion Rising

Globally we all are facing the increasing number of violence against women, and persistent violation of peace, justice, human rights and democracy.Continuing the solidarity and involvement / engagement in OBR for justice- global campaign, Shtrii Shakti and its partner organization in programme implementing districts organized a rally on 14th February 2014 in coordination with various organizations. Since this event was organized in a public and crowed area, the proceedings were informal and audience friendly.

Shtrii Shakti printed OBR pamphlets, Posters and distributed it among the partners, women and men during the event to spread the awareness about the campaign.
